Married, with children.
Is that the right response to a status question. I don’t keep up with these things. Well, in the first post on the new site, I promised to update you guys on life so here we go.
Jenny and I celebrated our 7 year wedding anniversary in February. That’s crazy, right? 7 years! God has done so much work in my life through the woman he gave to me. I am so grateful for the time we have had together. Our two kids are also growing up quickly. So I don’t travel near as much as I used to. I want them always to think of our family being together as the norm and my being gone as the aberration, not vice versa. With school, church, baseball, softball, and the rest of life, we don’t have nearly as much free time as we used to.
We moved to the DFW metroplex almost two years ago. I am now halfway through the Masters of Theology (ThM) program at Dallas Theological Seminary. I love going to school and all the amazing things I’ve been learning. I’m sure you will hear much more about school in future posts.
So, there’s only one topic left… music. We are having serious conversations about the next project. The music industry has changed a lot since Grace Like Rain, and I am spending some quality time with my manager and with Ardent to figure out what the best next step is. The good news is there definitely IS a next step. The songs are here. I finally finished one that I have been working hard on for a long time. It’s called “Glory to our Great Redeemer.” I can’t wait to share it with you. So there is definitely new music in the pipe, and I will keep you updated right here at the new toddagnew.com site. Looking forward to sharing new stuff with you. If you’ve seen me live in the last couple of years and there is a specific song you are hoping will be on the next project, please comment below and let me know. Your feedback is always helpful. If you hated all the songs, you don’t need to comment. Thanks though!
Love to you all. Hope to see you on the road sometime soon. I will be in Alabama, Tennessee (camp), Nebraska, Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin in the coming weeks. So if you live anywhere near any of those, check out the tour page and let me know you’re coming. See you soon.
Todd
Two songs for consideration:
Down in the Lowlands
As You Lay Me Down
Hey Todd, we are excited about the new project! You know I always have an opinion.
So, definitely piano piano piano. And then some more piano.
But regardless, I know it will be awesome! Can’t wait!
I have an old version of “The Martyr’s Song” from a podcast of yours. The one previously included on an album was great but very busy. There was something raw and gripping about the acoustic version. Any chance of getting just you and a guitar for a studio version of it acoustically?
Thanks for your music. You’ve been a heavy influence on me and my band, and we’re thankful for it. I’ve always looked up to you in that regard. It was an honor and privilege meeting you a few years ago in WV. Would love to get you back here again and would be happy to set something up should your time permit.
Love you brother!
omgosh wisconsin I’m SOOO excited I have to look and see when and where !!! God bless
So neat to hear that you have your priorities in order. Looking forward to ANY new music you have in the works, our family loves that your music always is about the Lord, no question π
excited to hear about some new music coming, and enjoy hearing about the family. I shall be in the DFW area sometime in June it’s a nice area, and Dallas Theological Seminary is a good school. would love to have a good Theological discussion sometime.
You just made my day. Any new music is greatly anticipated! As for any favorites: All of them! Your last album was so filled with love of God that some of the songs still make me get a lump in my throat. (Good thing π ) Sending prayers for your lovely family and for your future success! Peace!
Just some of the many reasons you’re our favorite, Todd. Excited for your new project, and excited for you and your beautiful family!
Thanks for the update my brother, pray for you often, so good to hear how happy you are. Stay in touch, lets worship the Lord together. I am in Florida now, near Pensacola, Jay Weaver and the Lord led my new wife, family and I here, love it! Blessings to you and just know I’ve always got your back! PS “I need no other” has my vote for the next album. Love you Brother…Gene
Good to hear from you, might man of God. Hope to see you in Southern Illinois again.
(what, no spell check? MIGHTY!)
Really enjoy your music Todd. I love its raw truthful quality. Keep it coming! Glad you are using your gift of writing and music for His glory. Blessings on finishing your degree!
I love your music. Never heard a song out of you that I didn’t like. So bring ’em on buddy! Blessings to you and your family!

Todd,
As much as I’d love to see you on tour year round it is great to her that you are doing so well with your family. It does seem like your priorities are spot on. Looking forward to new music and going to try to make the show in Michigan! Your shows are always my favorite. Simple and humble. π
Thanks!!
Hi Todd, good to hear from you again! π
I was just thinking the other day, “it’s been awhile since Todd released an album. Hope there’s some new music in the works…” Β‘Y aquΓ estΓ‘!
Looking forward to the new release. And major props for putting family first — you’ll never regret it!
I am thrilled to hear you are coming out with new music!!! I have missed your voice – both literal and figurative in the music world! Your music always moves and convicts me. I love that you put your family first. All God’s best to you!
Hey Todd, I can’t wait to hear your new stuff. One of my favourite oldies is Victory in Jesus. With your strong voice I know you would sing it amazingly. :). God bless you and your family!
Todd, you know I was always a fan of the “All I Want” song you covered when you led worship at Metro and The Loop. Your cover of it made it the worship song I looked forward to the most when you led. And btw, we miss you here in Memphis!
Glad to hear you’re so focused on your family as well as your music. Welcome back to the metroplex, old friend.
Awesome that you will be having a new album (soon?). Love everything you have done. Do you know yet if this one will be a mix of styles or more worshipful? Can’t wait! You have blessed so many people through the gift that God gave you.
It’s good to hear what’s going on my friend! Although it’s inconceivable that you guys have been married for 7 years! Wow! Time sure flies. Make the most of every day! Can’t wait to hear the new music, and I’m very glad to hear that there is new music.
Take care of you and yours!
Tess
I would love to hear you sing beautiful again. Thanks and God bless!
Can’t wait for your new project. Thankful to hear things are going well for you and yours. God is good!
Todd,
Anything that you sing is good!!!! The first time I saw you was at Newsong’s Christmas Concert and you were amazing!!!!!! Please come to Charlotte!!! I saw you twice on The Music Boat!!!!!!
Todd, I heard you sing several years back at The Lord’s Church in Ardmore, Oklahoma. What a wonderful evening that was! Your music and word is so inspiring and God-filled. I am very happy to hear this update about you and your family. I can’t wait to hear more. Keep blessing us with your praise and worship of our King. God Bless!
Can’t wait to hear the new music! Glad to hear you’re doing well!
So glad to hear this news. And by the way, your Todd Agnew and friends is still my FAVORITE Christmas CD π
Been wondering about you…so thankful for the update. Be awesome if you came back to AZ! Last time you got iced in at Dallas and couldn’t make it π
We love all your music Todd so any new project will be a blessing to our soul. Thanks for remaining in God’s word and allowing it to flow into your music, looking forward to hearing Glory to our Great Redeemer.
Congrats in a happy and busy family life. Our family prays that God continues to be the center of your marriage and parenting.
The first time I heard you live was in the Fall of 2013. All of the songs were beautiful. One of my favorites was “As You Lay Me Down.” If at all possible, you should consider including it. π
Hey Todd,
I love, love your voice and excited to know you will be back in Alabama! Congratulations on your 7th wedding anniversary, your accomplishments in Theology School and being able to continue your work in music! May the Lord continue to bless you!!
I knew you as a young boy at PPBC in Irving and have been wondering where you were lately. So, glad you are back in DFW area. Come see us sometime at church. Where are your folks? God bless you as you continue His work.
Love to hear you sing and speak ( Point of Grace and Spirit Midwest) ! I remember you as the ‘barefoot’ singer even in the middle of an Iowa winter, indoors, of course, but still….!You are right, family should be a priority, always. We are fans and always will be! A new album would be nice!:))
Thank you SO much for the beautiful music you’ve brought to us all. I hope to see you live at some point, though for now I’ll have to wait!
Your songs bless us so much! “This Fragile Breath” blows me away. The words really just touch my heart. It’s enough to bring me to my knees in praise! “My Jesus” and “Grace Like Rain” are also favorites.
I cannot wait to see what you have for us next!
Enjoy your family. You’ll NEVER regret time with your family. β‘
Great to hear you have been able to enjoy spending time with your family! Very excited as well to hear that more music is forthcoming! My husband and I enjoy everything you put out. Without a doubt, our favorite show was the acoustic set you and Jason Gray put on at the Majestic Theater in Elizabethtown, KY (2, possibly 3 years ago now). There are no words….Pure worship! Thanks to both of you for allowing us to share with you in returning praise and honor to the Holy One. God bless!
Awesome.
Good to hear from you, I have missed you . Glad to hear family is doing well, and sounds like you are doing a great job of being a husband and father and student π Cant wait to see/hear you in person, and hear some of the things you’ve been learning . I will be checking out tour page π
Any new songs from you would be great. I finally got to meet you about 3 yrs ago, at Hills Alive, I got a backstage pass. You sang a song that was geared for death/funeral type thing after a friend of yours passed away. I can’t remember the name–it was beautiful though.
Just look forward to hearing your voice singing anything. It’s so rich and unique. Can’t wait your next project!
So glad to hear you are doing well. Can’t wait to get your new album. Good that you have a solid family life. If you ever have a chance to get to Sacramento, CA would sure like to see you in concert again. God bless!
Todd:
I love Higher Ground ( and all your music). There is just something about that song. When life has me in a bad position and I sing or play it, I just feel like God’s blessing just takes over and gets me through whatever needs to happen. I guess that’s called anointed, Lol. I’d love to see you do another old old gospel hymn and turn it into a contemporary music. May God bless you and your family and all your future endeavors, whatever the Lord may have planned for you.
Very good info. Lucky me I discovered yoyr website by chance (stumbleupon).
I’ve saved it for later!
I personally would love to see you do a live album. Just you and a group of people worshipping and singing. That would be really awesome!
Please add down in the Lowlands. That song helped me through so many early struggles as a new babe. So good to see and hear from you. I love the teachings and life lessons you share at concerts.
So happy to hear about your beautiful life. Saw you twice here in Salt Lake City at Calvary Chapel…My husband and I Love your Music. Miss you Todd.
Blessings To You and Yours
Rob and Cynthia Lemmon
So I asked my kids what they wanted to hear on your next album and they were eager to requested a few songs. π
J says he wants to hear “Jesus No One Higher” again.
A wants you to record her favorites, You Make Me Brave (Bethel) and The More I Seek You (Kari Jobe).
π
I would love to hear, “New Every Morning” and “I Want to Be Like You”. But anything would be great!
So glad to hear you are still doing music. My kids and I have been praying for you and we love everything you do. Your songs have a way of sticking with us. Thanks.
You’re not coming to Mississippi? Deh-gum, man.
I would like to request any song you wrote from your “Breath of God”. Perhaps even “Awesome God” or “Ready For the Storm”. I’ve wanted for quite some time for “Breath of God” to be redone.
On a side note, and maybe a stupid question, but why isn’t “Breath of God” listed in your albums. (Do you know about it?)
I heard you sing “Down in the Lowlands” in Brandon, FL some years ago, and it was incredible. I agree with Joshua, too, Ready for the Storm would be great!.
I haven’t heard you for awhile down here in Florida because I don’t think you’ve come our direction lately or am I missing something?
My wife and I saw you in a church in Brandon, maybe 250 people there and you were performing NEED – it was great! We were at a camp in Brooksville, Fl a year or two later? (It was a cold night in Florida and I remember the organizer mentioning the next year’s music event and to be sure to mark it on your calendar – and you were off to the side backstage and I saw you facetiously marking an X on that date…I had a good angle and a good laugh.)
Your Christmas album was so good live with all your friends joining you – any plans for the Christmas album tour again? Or a Christmas sequel? A Resurrection Album?
The first time we heard you was at Disney’s Night of Joy, with Jonathan, and it was. That night I began my collection of every CD you’ve made.
I love it when you remake old songs like Tell Me the Story, Give Me Jesus, Need.
You have such diversity. It’s almost a problem, but every style sounds better when you sing it.
I think you may have more “commercial” success if you stick with one genre per album.
Perhaps make a “collection” to make each style of fan happy!
Examples:
1)The Hymns 2) Songs from the past from Rich, Russ, Steve Camp, etc. 3) A Happy Clappy Worship Album 4)Christian Pop
5) And then what I really want to hear: an original hard rock album with theologically sound lyrics, which you always write, but with some real punch.
Music like Disciple, Decypher Down or even Creed/Alter Bridge, but better, because you are singing.
Seriously, with that voice of yours which sounds so great on This Fragile Breath, Grace Like Rain, War Inside, Still Has a Hold, Something Beautiful – have you not considered doing an all out rock project? Maybe get Ty Tabor involved? That would be a combination! (Although I am not sure if he is on the same page anymore?) Just a thought, and probably worth all it cost you!
Any plans for Night of Joy or Rock the Universe in Orlando?
Hi, Todd!
I sadly haven’t had the privilege of seeing you the last few years (I live in New York City, a land where Christian Music is wayyyy too scarce!)
But today, on my iPod, “My Jesus” came on from years ago. And I just wept, feeling like that song is summing up what we are all missing in this world right now, ESPECIALLY in NYC… So I’m all in favor for a “My Jesus” comeback and more of the like. π
Thank you so much for your relentless pursuit of Jesus. You are such a blessing and a minister to us!
Best,
Julia
My brother in Christ, Todd, I have been following you for a while and am so excited for this next step in your faith journey. Living here Grand Rapids, Michigan I am constantly praying for you and your ministry. Your music has taken me from a very lonely dark place, straight into the arms of Jesus. Some of my favorite songs are “No One Higher” and “My Jesus”.
For the new album I have a request that maybe the Spirit will stir up in your heart as well. The old children’s song/hymn that sings, “Because He lives, I will face tomorrow; Because He lives, All fear is Gone; Because I know He holds the future, Life is worth Livin’ just because he lives.” These Lyrics are so powerful, and yet barely touched today by anyone in the worship ministry. The only reason I get up each day, is because HE LIVES! I can face tomorrow because HE LIVES! Before accepting Christ, I couldn’t face tomorrow. My life was filled with fears, doubts, and self-hate. Maybe the Spirit can lay something on your heart with these powerful lyrics in them.
Thanks again for sharing your music to all of us. It greatly impacts each one of us, and I look forward to your new cd. maybe including a song called “Because He Lives” π
I’m way late on this post, but I just found it by searching to see if you have recorded “New Every Morning.” I would love that!
