Even Sports Week needs a Sabbath, so today we must cover everything else.
I love to play tennis. I wish I had started when I was a kid so I would be good. But I’m all right with being terrible and having fun. And yes, my favorite is Rafael Nadal. I appreciate Federer’s complete game and grace and Djokovic’s game and humor. And I always hope Andy Murray will finally win something for Great Britain, but Nadal’s my guy. Oh and the Bryan brothers.
I also love to play volleyball. I really need to get back in playing shape so I can actually do something. But it’s probably my favorite sport to play. I enjoy watching indoor and outdoor. But I don’t really have favorite teams anymore. I grew up watching Sinjin Smith and Randy Stoklos, and then the emergence of Karch Kiraly. No one really has that feel anymore and that’s okay I guess. Todd Rogers is probably the closest. And he’s named Todd, so I cheer for him.
Cricket is my newest sport. I found it when we took the trip to Zimbabwe. The World Cup was on the TV there all the time, so I watched it. And it’s actually really fun.
I also enjoy ping pong, although I don’t think I could watch it on television.
Golf and NASCAR, can’t stand them. It’s totally fine if you love them. I just don’t. So I don’t have an opinion on them.
Did I leave anything out?
Thoughts?
Todd
Bicycling is very big in our household. Bruce is an avid bicyclist and will be riding in his 21st annual Tour de Cure ride for diabetes this coming Saturday. He will also be glued to the TV around the first of July when the Tour de France starts. It’s amazing how many sports there are to watch and participate in–something for everyone! Blessings to you and your family!
Equestrian sports!! dressage, jumping, rodeo, fun show, and my favorite – racing! I wanted to be a jockey growing up, but by the time I was 15 I was too tall to qualify. I did have a horse that was like riding on a cloud and he was fast (he was a cousin to Secretariat) and I practically lived on that horse for years. I love, love, love horse racing, and we have a contender for the triple crown this year – what a beauty! I’ll Have Another!
Snow skiing! My other favorite thing to do! Love to watch ski jumping and downhill racing. Can’t forget Shovel Racing either – I did that once at Angel Fire New Mexico – placed 6th in the women’s division (did it on a lark) and was on CNN as they televise it. Little-known but oh so fun to watch (especially when people wipe out!) and Oh! so FUN to do! Let it snow…let it snow…let it snow!
Ice Skating. I love to skate, and I love to watch couple ice dancing especially. And the racing – skaters are strong athletes – that’s how they make it look easy, but it is demanding. Tried racing once on roller skates and got my elbow dislocated, so love to watch it, appreciate the risk, never tried it on ice, but I’m not dead yet, so anything is possible (maybe not probable, but the jury isn’t out til you’re six-feet under).
Mountain climbing and rappelling! OMGoodness! climbing is hard and rappelling is AWESOME! Talk about Rocky Mountain High! Guess this is not considered a “sport” but it should be.
That winter-olympic sport where they push a heavy disc across the ice with a stick while two peopled vigorously sweep with push brooms in front of it. I think it’s called curling. #isthisreallyasport
I played golf for a while. #nicesetofpingsintheattic
Does teaching aerobics count? We had an archery unit in Jr. High that was pretty cool. & I was on a couple’s bowling league. #nicebowlingballinthebasement
Thank you for your concerts and sharing your talent. I have really been uplifted time and time again from the deep. Your the few that can help me lift my head, although we know that God is the lifter of our heads. God bless you and your family may you not tire from doing good.
Traditional guy here…..football (Lions), hockey (RedWings…what to do without Lindstrom?), baseball (Tigers)….haven’t watched the NBA in years….like the college game though! Tennis if fun and golf frustrating to play!!
One day you really need to come to the Indy 500 in May.
How do Badminton, Squash and Curling get you?
