So I have a few questions on blogging. I’m trying to become more consistent. My goal is to post new blogs every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Now, that may or may not happen. But here is what I want to hear from you.
1. What percentage of the blogs that you read do you also comment on?
2. What kind of blog makes you want to join the conversation?
Now if you have any other ideas on blogging, feel free to share them. If you have some topics you’d like to see addressed, feel free to mention them. Thanks for being a part of this community.
Thoughts?
I’m subscribed to 25 blogs through Google Reader and only comment on a tiny proportion of them.
The only time I do comment is if I feel like there’s something I need to share or if I profoundly disagree with something – otherwise I don’t feel the need to comment.
I read a lot of blogs and want to comment on most of them but then I wonder if my comments will be read and if the blogger even cares. I usually let that scare me away from commenting. Except if and when David Crowder blogs and then it’s borderline stalking so I have to be careful there! 😉
I subscribe to several blogs, most of which I don’t respond to. They serve as resources which I repost to encourage others. The blogs I join in tend to be about topics that stir my heart in some way and provoke my thinking. The best community forum I’ve ever been a part of was your community board from several years ago. I gained several life-long real-life friends there, and it was a place of lively discussion where people made their struggles known and posted prayer requests. This is a very different site, but I do enjoy hearing what God is stirring in your heart, things He is teaching you, and your fabulous story-telling abilities that bring Scripture alive. I enjoy laughing with you about funny incidents and praying with you about things that concern your heart. I also love hearing stories about your children and how God is teaching you through their lives. I’m interested in the recovery program you and Jenny are part of, and look forward to learning the background of the songs you write. I wish you knew just how much people are encouraged by your experiences and insights. Sometimes I read the Psalms as if they are David’s blogs. He shared his heart, the good and bad, which people can relate to so easily, and his praises to God have become our own sentiments. It’s the same principle with you and others to whom God has given the gift of expression. We stand with you and for you in your struggles, are blessed by your deep thoughts about life and God, and rejoice with you in praise to God for all He has done. My dear brother, you have been and are such a joy to my heart. May your words flow from an honest heart of one who is a fellow traveler chasing after the Lord of love and grace.
I don’t comment on a lot of blogs, mainly b/c I don’t feel I have much to add to the current conversation.
What kind of blogs–ones that *feel* like a conversation. Most of the blogs I read are more informative in nature and not geared so much toward conversation. Your blog feels like a conversation because you’re sharing thoughts/emotions and not imparting information.
I like questions on theological subjects or Christian social trends, but I only respond if time allows and I have something I think is of value to contribute. Random fun stuff is good too, but your parable just confused me. I’m poetically, and apparently parablicly, illiterate.
Now, I must return to the world of homework. Blessings, Tess
I read every Todd Agnew blog and love them all….I read every response but I rarely respond to a blog. (I think I have only responded to one prior to this one.) I love the deep thoughts and the spiritual conversation but sometimes I would just like to talk about everyday life…like how awesome Little League is and how a simple game of baseball can really make a positive change in a young childs life. I loved learning that your family and mine have Little League baseball in common. We would be more of a community if we learned a bit more about each others everyday life interests as well as our spiritual interests as deep thoughts.
forgive the typo…I meant spiritual interests and deep thoughts.
I usually read the ones you tell about on Facebook. I have only commented once, but it was when there was the talk on spiritual discipline. Well, I would like to hear more about your life, because a lot of times people don’t know much about Christian musicians, outside of music, so they could be like Kevin Max in his movie, “The Imposter”
I love to hear about parallels between the world and our relationship with Christ. The sheer amount of ways that God uses the physical to help us understand the spiritual cannot be overstated. And it makes it easy for people to chime in too!
As for commenting, your blog is the only one I read on a regular basis, and I comment often because you ask to know our thoughts on them. I for one love your devotion to connecting with your fan base. Looking forward to the many blogs to come!
There is a few things I want to know about.
For one:
Your first name.
Second:
The Breath of God album.
I especially like it when the blogger is also part of the discussion after the original post. I suppose when you are someone in a position with lots of “fans” that can be tricky, but none-the-less, you asked, so that is my input.
I don’t visit often, but when I do I usually skim through posts and take time on one or two.
I like it when you have some question stirring inside and it sends me off on a quest into the Bible to study and contemplate before answering. Sometimes you ask great questions, and while I probably don’t have the answers, the quest for them is part of the fun of discovering new things, so I usually give you my 2 cents eventually.
I like it when someone blogs because s/he wants to, not because it is an obligation. It is always great when you share something because it is on your mind and in your heart. I understand you’re putting yourself “out-there” when you do that – but it is real and refreshing.
Due to constraints of time, I don’t get to read a lot of blogs. My blog, though, is more of an online journal allowing people read insights, moods, etc. of both the Bible and just personal things. I encourage anybody to read and post comments. (www.RWMinistries.com)
