Okay folks, it’s been pretty heavy lately here on the blog. So I thought I’d ask you an easy question. It’s a good week in music right now. The new Paul Simon (which is excellent, by the way), new Foo Fighters, new Alison Krauss and Union Station, new Laura Story, new Mandisa, and a new Rebecca St. James record all in the last few days. So, I thought I’d check and see what music you’re enjoying listening to right now. I’m really enjoying the new records by the Village Church, the Decemberists, the Civil Wars, and Drew Holcomb & the Neighbors. I just noticed everybody has “the” in front of their names. Maybe on the next record I should try that. The Todd Agnew. Doesn’t quite work. I’ll have to think about it some more. So, what are your favorite new CDs?
Thoughts?
Todd
Mine has got to be “Overdose” by Lecrae…no question.
Just downloaded “Introducing The City Harmonic.” Oh my goodness it is gooooo-oood. I love LeCrae though so I’ll definitely have to give Overdose a shot.
Well, the Todd Agnew could work. Sounds cool. Especially coming from you.
But, possibly the contemporary Christian songs of 2011. Even though it was made, and everything in 2010, (I guess) could it still count, Todd Agnew? I just wanted to say it.
I like what I’ve heard from Worth Dying For’s “Love Riot” album.
Id have to say After the well, Open Heaven. Only because I’m connected to it because I’m the singer. Check it out and let us know if you like it! God has blessed us so much! info@ afterthewell.com
Oh my gosh, Hillsong United’s Aftermath is amazing! It’s come into my life at just the right time, and is such a truly profound collection of worship songs!
Mumford and Sons
The Apache Relay
If you had time to only check out one…go with Mumford. Apache is much the same, but not as good.
And cheers (HOORAY, HOORAY) for the new Foo album!
Unfortunately, I have been dwelling in the past lately because nothing new has really grabbed my ear. Mostly old school funk and metal with some CCM tossed in to break it up once in a while.
and you’ll always be “THE Agnew” to some of us… 😉
I have purchased the new Laura Story and AKUS CD’s. It’s too soon to to tell my “favorite”. Laura’s Cd has been listened more in my house and I just love her songwriting. Interesting to see Nathan Nockels all over that album.
Of course AKUS is going to stand the test of time, that is a given but I struggle with comparing who is “better”.
Now the Foo Fighters. ARGH! Can they be any cooler? Going to the garage to record the album with old school technology; They do bring it, for sure. I personally have to be careful in the non-christian realm, or my focus gets lost. I have not bought it but, only listened to samples and watched the new video. Saving money for the Ben Shive album later this year.
I have two: ‘New Kind of House’ by Typhoon, and ‘Coming Home’ from Maggie Bjorklund. Both are excellent.
Trevor Morgan – the blessed and the broken. Seem to keep going back to it on the iPod over and over.
This is not that new anymore but I’ve been listening to this as of late”Raising Up the Dead” Caedmon’s Call. I love them. It is somewhat different than the last album but love them, no matter what just like “The Todd Agnew” God Bless all.
Red Mountain Church has put some great music to a number of older theologically deep, moving hymns… Fantastic!
I know I’m a little late, but better late than never.
Tallahassee: Jealous Hands
Joshua James: Build Me This
Amos Lee: Mission Bell
Robert Plant: Band of Joy
Shawn McDonald: Closer
Jamey Johnson: The Guitar Song
Mavis Staples: We’ll Never Turn Back
And a sprinking of Dorothy Moore’s songs 🙂
