Hey everyone, it’s Todd. The new record comes out today. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who prayed us through this process. It was definitely a difficult one. I am looking forward to hearing people’s thoughts and reactions now that the record is finally out. I hope you will share yours, maybe in a comment at the bottom of this blog. If you don’t know much about the record, it’s called NEED and it kind of has three themes running through the record: things we think we need, things we really need, and the strange but beautiful idea that all the things we really need are found in Christ.
First, I would like to thank everyone who has been onto iTunes already this morning. Of course, the first single that has already been available, ‘Joy Unspeakable’, is the most downloaded. But the second is ‘Higher Ground’. That really touched me. It’s been one of my favorites for some time. I also look forward to hearing your thoughts on ‘Give Me Jesus’, another favorite of mine.
Actually I can’t wait to hear what you think of all the songs. Well, what God shows you, how He moves in your heart. That’s why we do this, and I look forward to his move. The other additional iTunes comment is that there are 3 bonus songs on iTunes that are not on the CD for those of you that preordered or bought it in the stores. These songs are available for purchase on iTunes; you don’t have to buy the whole record. ‘The Way of the Cross’ is a personal favorite. It was so hard not to include it on the record. And ‘All The World’ is a bit of the funky side that you may have become used to hearing from me. ‘All That I Have’ wasn’t my favorite bonus track but hopefully some of you will like it. Anyway, I hope to hear from you guys as you experience the new project. Thanks for listening.
Todd
Just waiting for my download code to come through so I can download my pre-ordered digital copy. Can’t wait to hear the new album, Todd. Praying for you and the guys out on the road.
Todd;
We are planning on talking to you this week for next weeks Podcast program. Looking forward to it, and always look forward to your new music. When people ask me who the real deals are in Christian music today, I always mention you. You get it. What we are really supposed to be doing with His gifts. Thanks for still doing what you do.
What a blessing “Need” is. All of the songs speak to me, but we heard you perform “Need” in Mt. Vernon over a year ago and I have been anxious to hear it again. It speaks to my heart everytime I hear it.
Praying for God’s continued blessings on you, the team, and your family. Thank you for being God’s beautiful, willing instrument. At least that’s what it looks like from where I sit.
Hi Todd, we have reviewed your album over at The Joint Review web site. http://thejointreview.com/2009/09/28/todd-agnew-need-review/
Thanks,
Alastair.
Todd,
My wife and I really like your new CD.
We both find great encouragement in your music and testimony. Your humbleness and openness have been a great example to us both. I also have alsoused your music as a tool for sharing the Gospel with a freind.
We look forward to seeing you at Mechanicsburg, Pa.
Thanks and God Bless
Jim
Todd, this is a genuine CD that gives God total glory. Need hits me pretty hard. There are several songs on here that (1) are statements I would call out to God myself…autobiographical I guess, (2) songs that I’ll sing to my kids after learning the chords…like Tell Me The Story, and (3) it’s just got a great production sound. Thanks for putting this one out, and can’t wait until the November concert in Cordova.
IT’S FINALLY RELEASED! HOORAY!!! CONGRATULATIONS, TODD AND ALL WHO PARTICIPATED IN THIS ALBUM! When I listened to it, every time I heard the name “Jesus” sung, I was thinking, “sing it again! sing it again!” I’ve had a hard day, and I felt the prickles of the Holy Spirit and the Lord’s nearness as I listened for the first time to this CD! Thank you, Todd, for once more letting the Lord use you to uniquely explore and express who He is! Revelations of eternity are shared through this work of art! I thank and praise God for this wonderful treasure of immeasurable worth!
This record is such a blessing! When I’m listening my focus shifts heavenward. My favorite is The Love of God, but there are 10 close seconds. The country sound of Give Me Jesus causes it to come in last for me. But every song lifts my spirits. Yesterday morning I woke up with Jesus, The Hope of Glory on my mind, and this morning it was Higher Ground. And Deep Love of Jesus just makes me smile! 🙂 Downloading the digital tracks now…haven’t heard the bonus songs yet…something to look forward to. Thanks, Todd! Will be seeing you soon in Cedarville, OH.
I needed this, and seriously, that’s not an intentional play on words. The timing on this is so good. I’ll post a lengthy and verbose commentary in the near future.
Thanks Todd!! May God bless you and your in every way.
Tess
I am waiting for the code so I can download it. Will this be received by email.
Heard you in concert during the summer in El Paso, TX. Been waiting for the new cd since! Did you mean me? touched my heart and has become my new call to be all i can be for Christ! If he can change someone like me through your songs, His word and prayer…..he can change anyone! And thats the story I want my life to say…..YES He means YOU!!!!!!
Yes, James, it’s received via email 🙂 If you did the pre-order here at the homepage and haven’t heard from them, the email to contact is ToddAgnewNeed@discrevolt.com Hope you get it soon!
Hey, can I review the reviewer or will that get me in trouble? 😛
I Love the new CD! I love every song on it. My favorite is “The Love of God” because the music is so unique. I also love “Higher Ground” for its uniqueness.
Other favorites are “Did you mean me?”, “Breakable”, “I Need No Other” because the message is powerful.
I can’t wait to see you in Cordova!
Dude, I got the CD. I’ve given it 2 whole way through listens so far. I love it. I love that your honesty is still there – not that I expected it to disappear – but I so deeply respect that you don’t bow to industry demands and just put out fluff (even though I’m sure you could do good fluff :-P). So much of this album is speaking to where I am at the moment (hmm, seems to be a pattern here) and I’m so thankful.
Highlights – Written On The Wall, I Need No Other, Give Me Jesus, Higher Ground, Did You Mean Me, Breakable. And I’m so used to the acoustic version of Joy Unspeakable that the guitars in the studio edit took me by surprise – like it a lot. And the female BGVs as a whole are fantastic!
Y’all have done a top job once again, my friend! 🙂 There was one track (I’ll have to go back and listen again) that reminded me of Steven Curtis Chapman – now coming from me, that’s a HUGE compliment. It wasn’t that you sounded like him but just the melodic progression and the lyrical feel evoked the same emotional response I get to his ‘deep stuff’. Oh, there you go – it’s I Need No Other. Love it. Seriously.
Thank you.
Hey Todd,
I purchased the new album and I love it. I put it into my cd player on my way to work one night (it is almost an hour each way) and I can’t seem to take it out or listen to any other albums right now. I do love your sound, your voice and the type of music you guys play but the main thing that I love is the lyrics. You consistently remind me in your songs of Who Jesus is and Who He wants to be in my life. I feel like I fall in love with Him over and over again each time I listen to your music. Thank you so much for staying true to your calling! I am an RN and I work as a critical care resource pool nurse so I work in the ICUs and ER and I see people at their worst. Believe me on my drive to and from work I need time with God to get in the right mind set that it is about Him and not me. That I need to see people as He sees them and not see them in the flesh as the enemy would have me see them. Your music helps me do that. Thanks again and I will pray for you guys.
